MMAMadness: You’re coming off of a controversial loss (to Diego Sanchez). What have you been doing since?

Clay Guida: Yeah man, enjoying the vacation. I’ll be back in the gym really soon. Just out here at the UFC Fan Expo for UFC 100. It’s a great experience. Everyone’s very supportive. It was a tough fight, but you win some, you lose some. That’s what builds champions.

MM: You have a line of fans around the booth waiting for your autograph. What is it like to see the fans and see the support?

Guida: The fans are the best here. I’ve followed football, baseball, basketball my whole life, and this is where it’s at; mixed martial arts. The best fans in the world, hands down. It’s an honor to be here.

MM: You’ve fought some of the best the lightweight division has to offer. Coming off of this loss, where do you look to go and who do you look to fight?

Guida: I always look up. Look to the future with a positive attitude and BJ (Penn), I’m coming for you. I love you, but I’m not too far. I’m on your trail.

MM: People always say that you’re an exciting fighter. What does it mean to have that reputation where fans always look forward to watching you fight?

Guida: I devote it to them. I’m out here to have fun and I’m out here to win. Put smiles on people’s faces and put butts in the seats. It comes naturally to be entertaining. I’m having too much fun out there to have a boring fight.

MM: We saw a different side of you in your last fight. You were pumped up, yelling ‘this is my house.’ Normally you’re not as animated, so where did that come from?

Guida: Just an intense fight. A lot of emotion went through that fight. It was a life changing, career changing fight and this one will be as well. We’re going to come back and rip off some more wins and get back in title contention.

MM: Recently it broke that the reason you were not included in UFC Undisputed 2009 was your hair. Is that true?

Guida: THQ [the game publisher] kept me out of it. They couldn’t evidently replicate my hair so it just shows you that they don’t have enough technology or enough brains to put one of the supposed exciting fighters in the UFC in there. I don’t hold grudges, but we’ll be in 2010.

MM: Has THQ spoken to you about being in next year’s game?

Guida: They’re very apologetic and it’s one of those things where it’s every kid’s dream to be in a video game. We’ll be there.
