Daniel Cormier is the latest U.S. Olympic Wrestler to turn to MMA.
Two time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier will begin training at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) in preparation for a mixed martial arts career.
Cormier also signed on with Zinkin Entertainment and & Sports Management. Zinkin represents several high profile AKA fighters, including Josh Koscheck, Mike Swick, Cain Velasquez, and Jon Fitch, as well as Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin.
“Zinkin Entertainment is excited to have Cormier as part of their team and have high expectations for their latest MMA fighter,” the company said in a press release.
An NJCAA Hall of Fame Inductee, Cormier amassed a collegiate record of 117-10 wrestling at Oklahoma State University. He competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics in Athens and Beijing respectively, and was the 2008 Olympic Team Captain.
Cormier is also a six time U.S. National Champion, and has been ranked the top American wrestler from 2002-2009.

Read a little bit about this guy after reading the article.
Incredibly decorated wrestler, all the way back to high school. He looks like a heavyweight from the photo, but read that Cormier is 5′11″, 211 lbs, so he will probably compete in MMA as a light heavy. Likd most wrestlers, he probably has intense strength to weight ratio, likely cuts to 211 to compete. If he can learn to punch, he sounds like he could be a formidable MMA fighter.
If crazy Bob Cook trains Daniel Cormier well, which I’m sure he will, this guy is going to be a serious force in mma.
