Kenny Florian, who just lost to UFC light weight title holder BJ Penn, will soon be facing a beast of another nature…Clay Guida’s hair. A match between the two has been reported by numerous sites, with AOL Fanhouse breaking the rumor. At this point it’s only a rumor, but the match could be as soon as UFC 106 in November. Florian (11-4) is looking to prove he’s still a top contender while Guida (25-10) wants the next title shot. If Guida can surpass the mountain that is Kenny Florian he would have very good reason to ask for, if not demand, a title shot. Florian still has a way to go before Joe Silva, UFC MatchMaker, will give him another shot at the belt.

Dana White commented on Kenny’s position, “He’s got to jump back in the mix.” Dana added, “It’s rough when you lose two title shots. It’s a tough spot for Kenny.”

Florian should outclass Guida, plain & simple

I don’t know about that. There have been plenty of fighters who should’ve outclassed Guida, and he’s beaten most of them. He beat Nate Diaz, and people had been making abig deal about Nate for a while. The Sanchez fight is another story also, he arguably won that third round, and convincingly won the second. His style may not be the prettiest, but he sure does get it done. Also, Sanchez only outstrikes guys like Guida who aren’t that great in that facet of the game. If he fights like that against BJ, the Pridigy will stay inside the pocket and knock Sanchez on his ass, mark my words. IMO, Sanchez doesn’t deserve the title shot. He’s got two fights at LW, and one against a guy who’s already been destroyed by Penn and Florian.

U may be right on the Sanchez point but this will “sell”, better than Guida-Penn would and that’s what is being factored, admitted or not. I beleive that Nate was robbed and Guida is lucky to be where he is. One loss at 155 and you’re at the bottom looking up again. Can anyone beat Florian? If not, which I don’t think they can…we’re looking at a scenerio like Georges St.Pierre and the UFC’s welterweight division where nobody has been as sharp as Jon Fitch but he can’t beat GSP…noone will be able to beat BJ. So I guess they really are vying for #2…???

Kenny Florian does not get an easy re-entry into the lightweight fray.

Clay Guida is a non-stop whirlwind of ground and pound, and while Kenny might get the nod as far as pure technique, Guida brings energizer bunny endurance, unending in your face take-down attempts, and a very scrappy striking game to go along with his wrestling. I thought Guida took the Sanchez fight, and I give him a strong chance to take Kenny Florian to a decision victory.
