Considered one of top young fighters on the East Coast, Calvin “the Boston Finisher” Katter defeated Andrew “New York State of Mind” Montanez to win the NABC MMA East Coast lightweight title Friday.

I’m very, very proud of what ASC has done. We put on great shows and showcased a lot of local talent. Calvin Kattar is one of the best young fighters on the East Coast.  I believe he’s going places in this business.”

9-11-09 Is a day that Calvin Kattar will remember for the rest of his life for two reasons, 1st he won his first title fight & 2nd it was the first time one of his victory fights took longer than 1:49 seconds. But to call this merely a fight would be unfair. This was a a battle from the opening seconds to the end of the fifth round, between 2 warriors, and yes Montanez was a warrior ! Calvin hit him with so many bombs ( that we have seen crumple lesser fighters ) and he stayed on his feet, dont ask me how but he did. Calvin proved once again that not only is he an extremely tuff fighter, an extremely fast fighter but an extremely smart fighter, as the fight progressed Calvin slowed it down and started to pick montanez apart, piling on the points and while the knockout didn’t happen he undoubtedly won the fight. I dont think that anyone would disagree. Calvin thanks for another great fight, it’s always worth the price of admission and then some !
