Anderson Silva will not defend his middleweight title against Vitor Belfort at UFC 108, MMAjunkie.com reported.

According to Ed Soares, Silva’s Manager, Silva will not be fully recovered from elbow surgery to fight on January 2.

“The latest is he’s not fighting Jan 2,” Soares said. “That’s not going to happen. He won’t be ready.”

Soares says that Silva, who had bone spurs removed from his elbow, is back in Brazil rehabbing, and is ahead of schedule. Soares also said that he expects Silva to face Belfort when he is healthy.

“I think it’s going to be Vitor when Anderson comes back,” Soares said. “That’s what I’m assuming.”

Anderson’s elbow injury, huh? I keep hearing his elbow’s fine there was no surgery, then yes there was, no there wasn’t, wait there was. All this is coming from Ed Soares too. I don;t get why Anderson has to dance around this shit. He’s the man, if he doesn’t wanna fight Vitor then say so for real, except he’s the champ and he should have to fight whoever they put in front of him, not for him to decide.

i feel ya kimura,he is the champ and should step up,if the injury is real and he cant recover then fine but he has been bitching and moaning about belfort,i think he knows he may lose his title in this one.

I don’t know about though. Belfort has the best hands of anybody Anderson will have faced for a while, but can he actually beat him? That’s a tough one. I would actually pretty interested in seeing these guys fight each other in a boxing match.

Look Anderson can take anyone that they put in front of him and he has the right to say if he is’nt ready to fight beacuse of his elbow then they should get over it and take it like a man don’t bitch about it and say that he is making up excuses that is stupid!!!!!

The thing is that Ed Soares was quoted like a month or so ago saying that Anderson had no elbow injury, now all of the sudden he had surgery after UFC announces Vitor as his next opponent. Basically ohe’s trying to say he wants a different opponent. And obviously he’ gonna keep his title. There not gonna strip ANderson Silva of his title, especially when he is won defense away from breaking the record.
