Despite being one of the most popular fighters in the WEC, Jeff “Big Frog” Curran was recently cut by the promotion.

“I feel like the WEC was my home so this has been very hard for me” stated Curran.

His release comes after a four-fight losing streak, including some of the best the WEC has to offer as in Urijah Faber and Mike Thomas Brown.

His last fight was a very close split decision loss at WEC 42 against Takeya Mizugaki, where many fans thought Curran won.

It wasn’t long before every other promotion started calling to ask about getting Curran in their shows.

“I decided to fight in StrikeForce because there is a lot of attention on this card because of Fedor [Emelianenko] and it is happening in my hometown,” Curran said. “I am excited about all the things going on around the event as well.  The Paradise Warrior Retreat will be hosting a day-long seminar at my gym, so it will be a big weekend for sure”.

The opponent has not been announced for Curran yet, but it will be posted here as soon as it is signed.

Good signing by Strikeforce. While Jeff has had some losses, he is a highly skilled experienced pro who always brings it when he get into the cage. Good example of a guy who gives his best for the fans and represents the best in MMA. Will look forward to seeing Curran fight for Strikeforce in the future.
