The Twitter-verse has been awfully quiet without the presence of Frank Trigg, but there was a good reason.

Trigg underwent a successful knee surgery, MMA Junkie is reporting. The recovery time is unknown, but Trigg is still targeting an early 2010 fight for a return.

Initially thought to be a torn meniscus, but the injury was arthritis-related. The doctors drilled holes in Trigg’s knee to promote collagen growth and did other small pre-cautionary measures.

He injured the knee right before his fight with Josh Koscheck, and was about to pull out of the bout. Trigg allowed the knee to heal, and went through with the fight as planned.

The Web site also reported that Trigg has not accepted a bout with Matt Serra, though he is open to the possibility of fighting the former welterweight champion.
