Forrest Griffin Avenged His Loss to Ortiz.
It took him three years, but Forrest Griffin avenged his first career loss in the UFC to Tito Ortiz, following a split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28) victory over Ortiz.
The two got into a small verbal war when the fight was over, marking that this rivalry is far from over.
Josh Koscheck sent Anthony Johnson tumbling back down the welterweight ladder after Koscheck choked out Johnson in the second round of their entertaining though, bizzare contest. Johnson threw an illegal strike when Koscheck was on his knees, which was followed by an inadvertent eye poke.
Following the match Koscheck called out perceived No. 1 contender Dan Hardy to a fight in March. Koscheck earned an extra $140,000 after picking up Submission of the Night as well as Fight of the Night bonuses.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira made an impressive debut with a knockout victory over Luis Cane. The blow gave Nogueira an extra $70,000 for knockout of the night.

Ok I was going for griffin. But unless the ufc changed its scoring shouldent tito have won? I mean 3 clean takedowns and control? Please tell me they changed there scoring method. If that fight was scored overall I guess forrest would have won. Im confused really LOL.
Forrest dominated Tito…
i had tito round 1 and round 2 and forrest winning round 3 by 10-8.cane got ko’d in style and prop’s to ben killer b saunders.
In all fairness, Tito is gonna gave to take a few fights before he gets back into fighting shape. He looked like he was hurt by the leg kicks. He came back at Forrest awkwardly in the first round…i didn’t see any mobility after that. Truth is Tito looked like a fighter from the past against a fighter with a very smart MMA gameplan and he lost, period. I don’t think he’ll make any excuses and Forrest was,as always, a class act by calling on “Tito vs. Forrest 3″. Tito would have problems with most of the 205 lb fighters in todays UFC. Don’t take it the wrong way…I know who Tito Ortiz is…I’m a fan but he looked like he would have had trouble with a strikeforce fighter last night. I really hope that was just ring rust but I don’t think that was or is the case. We may be looking at the last hurrah of a great, great MMA pioneer. Tito vs. Chuck anyone???
cota he didnt lose, tito didnt look good because forrest is a good opponent but tito did not lose.a draw should have been the outcome.
SHIT Daley then we haven’t settled anything yet…they need to put 3 together. Tito just didn’t look good at all last night. He was never comfortable and I do believe he was hurt again and Forrest has a broken bone in his foot. I saw Forrest hitting Tito all fight long and when Tito took him down…he didn’t do a lot of damage…the one elbow was vintage Tito but not much else. Forrest was busier and stuffed the last few takedown atempts. Forrest striking looked really improved
id like to see these to fight again and do the ultimate fighter.i didnt want dan hardy and gsp doing it as the belts need to stay active at this point in time and that goes for machida and shogun,i heard they are fighting in may 2010,i dont think so,that match needs to be resolved and they should not be put as coaches, granted they would be good coaches but id rather see them fight sooner and tito and forrest have something bubbling with 2 very close decisions in both fight’s.thats what i want anyway.
I don’t know about you guys but my take on this fight and tito forrest III
Tito is so full of Tito that I’m starting to get sick of him after watching the post fight interviews.
He clearly lost this fight I don’t understand what his problem is with his sour grapes and poor excuses.
To watch a third fight leaves the shamrock Tito soap opera taste in my mouth
To watch them as coaches again,,,, no thanks?
After watching the Anderson Forrest fight where does that put Tito,,, a “B” actor for sure.
He always dodged the top fighters till he had to fight chuck.
now he will try to dodge rua, machida, beflort, anderson, rashad, jackson and little nog and go for forrest, coleman, chuck (out of retirement) randy and the rest of the gatekeepers to add to his legacy as the greatest fighter…
seen this act before tito it’s getting old.
Two incidents that concerned me in 106 were two ref stoppage
Kos was not poked in the eye and the fight was halted when Johnson was beating him,
And Larson kick didn’t poke his opponent’s eye either… that stoppage occurred when he was ready to finish the fight.
That bad reffing call changed the whole outcome of those fights.
We seen this with inside leg kick as groin shots but that didn’t affect the fight that much because the fighters are usually in the clinch.
I hope this doesn’t lead other fighters when they are getting smacked around and ready to be put out to just grab your eye and wait for a stoppage.
But don’t be like Kos and grab the wrong eye ,,,he looked like such a fool, Then he showed Johnson was a real eye poke looks like,,, good move Koscheck you tool
I thought both guys got brutally eyepoked in that fight Arny, but it definately looked like Koscheck did it on purpose. Either way, I lost respect for Dan Hardy after he talked shit about Koscheck. It gives off the impression tha the only did it because he knows he’s getting the next fight against GSP, instead of having to fight Koscheck. I think Dana White at this point wouldn’t risk Hardy against Josh because all Josh has been doing since his fight with GSP is beating potential title-contenders, bt not being able to make a title run of his own.
I was pissed about Marcus Davis, I honestly thought he would whip Saunders’ ass. Extremely impressed with Lil Nog, wasn’t sure how he’d do against Cane. He chin-checked the fuck out of Cane, he’s basically top five right off the bat now.
I’ll support Tito till the cows come home but I’m starting to get the impression he’s losing his fighting spirit,if it doesn’t go his way then the excuses just seem to roll right off his tongue. He was beaten fair and square and gassed early on which isn’t a Tito we’ve known for many years!!! He needs to get his ass back up to Big Bear and train hard for a few months after his injuries have healed. He needs fights to get the edge back and to fathom whether he wants to do it anymore.
Lil’ Nog….WOW he lit Cane up,BANG….BANG….BANG….MAN DOOOOOWWWWNNNN!!!!!
Killa B,another one who impressed me! If he can evolve from just a banger with an OK’ish ground game then he’s gonna be lethal.
As for the eye pokes, they happen every other fight. Some not so bad and some horrible i.e. Burns vs Johnson or Couture vs Belfort.
But Kos dropping like a little bitch didn’t help things whatsoever. And him calling himself the number 1 contender after beating an up and comer and a has been after being KTFO by Thiago is bullshit!!!!
Hardy’s earned it so don’t try take it away from the guy. Gono,Davis and Swick are no fucking jokes,Markham’s not a slouch either.
Right rant over haha, probably my longest post on here for ages hahaha!!!
Shit almost forgot…..Mr Phil ‘Suntan Superman’ Baroni, hahahaha that guys been tangoe’d!!!!!
i think baroni vs amir should have got fight of the night, tito said i fought on heart in the 3rd round and he would like to see anyone else do it,hello! baroni did and at least he threw punches in the 3rd.boo ive not seen that tango advert for years,he did look like he been tango’d.i noticed baroni look’s alot older now.he definatly had fake tan on.
Agree with you 100% dirty
Baroni and Amir should of got fight of the night.
Dana should quit his criticism of the judging when he pulls off boners like that.
And right on Tito stood there for the whole 3rd round like a piƱata Bironi had the heart and kept on fighting…but don’t tell Tito that I don’t want to hear another 10 minute excuse of why he should of not lost and he is the just the best and no other human fought for the fans like he just did …bla bla bla..
I thought Baroni did pretty well, considering what most peoples’ expectations probably were. It was a great fight, and now we’ll see if Amir Sadollah can put a few decent wins together.
And yeah, Tito lost the fight, but I don’t get how you guys talk like Forrest whipped his ass. It was a split decision first of all. I mean, I think Titio lost, but It was not devastating or dominating in any way really. Sure he ran out of gas, but he hasn’t fought since May of 2008. I know that shouldn’t be an excuse, but he’ll come back in better shape.
It’s not that we’re saying Forrest whipped his ass because to be brutally honest,I’ve not seen Forrest whoop anyone’s ass,he’s seems to do just enough to get the W or gets KTFO…..ask Rashad,Jardine and Spider. It’s the fact that Tito is making excuses as to why he didn’t win and this and that…cut the BS go train harder, get the cardio your famous for back and come and smash this motherfucker
tito was talking how jenna is a good mum at the press conference.why do we want to know that tito?i think theres alot of fakeness about tito.he did ok in the fight and i still think it was a draw after watching it again but i really dont see him getting his belt back.forrest did choke out shogun and everyone thought shogun was done so i could be wrong.forrest has been banned from fighting 6 months so i think these 2 should be the coaches.tito wwas pissing dana off at the press conference so i see these 2 arguing again so dana should make the most of tito before he loses a few mpore fights and his name aint worth much because dana wants rid of tito and the only reason he keeps him is because he draws big numbers, how long will tito draw big with him not finishing fights in brutal ground and pound like he once did?
Hell yeah Daley, that’s what Tito’s all about. Tell me he didn’t embarass you with the way he was talking at the post-fight press conference. I was like damnnn. I mean come on, a cracked skull? You didn’t get licensed for this fight with a fucking cracked skull, that’s for sure. It’s been a while since Tito has done anything to really impress me, but the same goes for Forrest. Shogun would whip him in the rematch, he would never beat Rashad or Machida, I don’t think I’d take him against Thiago Silva, definately wouldn’t take him against Lil Nog, and probavbly not in a rematch with Rampage. He can beat the mid to lower level guys at this point, but I don’t think we will ever see him on top again. He might beat Luiz Cane or he might not and he should be able to win a rematch with Keith Jardine, but I don’t expect much more out of him at this point.
i think everyone was embarresed at the press conference apart from tito himself.yes kimura you are right that forrest wont cut it with the guy’s you mentioned.he is just a gritty fighter who is tough to put away.tito has not evolved his style,he like his takedown and ground and pound too much and when that fails he doesnt do anything else apart from the triangle against machida which was put on real classy and quick so i dont understand why he doest take more chances if he is dangerous of his back.i wouldnt be suprised if tito has left by this time next year and forrest by mid 2011.if tito doesnt do the ultimate fighter i would love to see him fight houston alexander.id love to see tito fight a big slugger like him.
I would hope that Tito would have a pretty easy time with Houston. Tito has already had a pretty decent chin, even though Houston hits hard as fuck. His takedowns would definately be too much for Houston to handle, and I don’t think he would have too much trouble putting Houston away once he gets him on his back. However, if that’s the kind of guy Tito will be facing, then he’s definately on his way out.
It’s pretty obvious top all of us that Tito Ortiz is preparing himself for life after the fight. He doesn’t have to worry about money because Jenna is loaded and making more money as we speak…when i heard the comments I’ve heard the last few days about what Tito’s latest bunch of excuses were…I was like, Same Tito, Different day. Forrest whooped him on his feet, he landed like 1 good elbow, aside from that, Forrest kicked him at will and really looked improved with his jab and overall boxing. These 2 will always be entertaining and that’s the name of the game for them…Forrest because he’s crazy as we all are and a pretty real personality…Ttito because he’s playing the only cards he has left at this point of this MMA career. I think he’d be an excellent color man for MMA fights ( lord knows that ESPN needs an actual MMA guy to report for them). Forrest and Bonner will always have that fight and the inagural show, Forrest wore gold for a while but all above comments are right on. These 2 cannot compete with the upper echelon of the 205ers in the UFC and I really can’t see them fighting for Strikeforce…
one thing this tell’s us is the pride boys are coming over and starting to take over.shogun, nog, rampage and could you imagine arona aswell?i honestly belive tito would get ko’d real hard by alexandre.
One thing’s 4 sure Daley…Houston Alexander is not the best MMA fighter but he has scarey power
I’m telling you now,as much as I like Houston,he aint getting past Kimbo IF they fight!!!
See, I think Houston might put Kimbo down. They both have heavy hands, but Houston has beaten guys like Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara, who may both have suspect chins, but are pretty decent fighters. On the other hand, you have Kimbo, whose win over James Thompson was a sham, and who got laced by Seth Petruzelli. Houston has been beaten badly too obviously, but by guys like Thiago Silva and James Irvin, who are still competing in the UFC.
yeah i have to say alexandre will beat kimbo.it’s going to be a great fight.alexandre just needs to find the right partner to help add the ground to suit his game and he will be a scary threat to anyone.
