Posted on November 3, 2009 in: MMA News

The UFC has had a whirlwind booking process in the last few weeks with so many fighters having to pull out due to injury. The UFC confirmed the latest round of changes to three of its upcoming cards.

UFC's expansion continues in 2010.

UFC confirmed changes for its upcoming schedule

With more cards comes a bigger likely hood that injuries will occur. The UFC confirmed the card changes for UFC 106, UFC 107 and The Ultimate Fighter Finale.

UFC 106: Griffin vs. Ortiz II

Luis Cane vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been confirmed and added to the man card. Cane has won his last three fights, two by way of stoppage. Nogueira is the twin brother of heavyweight Rodrigo Nogueira, and he is making his UFC debut. He holds wins over Dan Henderson, Allistar Overeem and Kazushi Sakuraba.

Paulo Thiago, who was supposed to take on Thiago Alves originally at UFC 107, received his bout. He will take on Jacob Volkmann in a preliminary bout. Volkmann is another fighter out of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, and he won his last outing in the May Bellator show. Thiago is coming off of a loss to Jon Fitch at UFC 100.

The Ultimate Fighter Finale

Frankie Edgar’s original opponent Kurt Pellegrino had to pull out of his TUF Finale fight due to injury. Edgar will now face Matt Veach. Veach is unbeaten in 11 fights, and has won 10 by stoppage. Edgar is coming off of a huge win against former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk in his last outing.

UFC 107

Jon Fitch is hoping third time is a charm with an opponent. After having both Ricardo Almeida and Thiago Alves pull out of the bout due to injury, Fitch is now set to face Mike Pierce in Memphis, Tenn.

Pierce is coming off of a win against Brock Larson at UFN 19.

Yeah that was going to be sick rematch, both guys have improved a lot since that fight. Paulo Thiago vs Jacob Volkman should be great though, even though those guys aren’t that well-known.

Volkmann is a badass wrestler and tough as nails. War VOLKMANN!!!
