Justin Wilcox co-hosted Tuesday’s “Ground-n-Pound Radio” with Hector Castro. Wilcox talked about his last minute fight against Daisuke Nakamura for Saturday’s Strikeforce.

“I was training for [Josh] Thomson for eight weeks now,” said Wilcox. “I’ve been down in Fresno with [Josh] Koscheck…I’ve been training for eight hard weeks.”

Though Wilcox only got the call for the fight two weeks ago, he is more than prepared going into the fight. He’s been helping teammates prepare; keeping his skills up at the same time.

Wilcox has has the last two weeks to learn Nakamura’s strengths and weaknesses. Japan native, Nakamura, is 20-11 coming off a loss to Naoyuki Kotani in November.

“I’ve watched a few videos of him on YouTube and stuff,” said Wilcox. “He’s a real slick jiu jitsu guy; he’s submitted 12 of his [opponents]. He’s a tough dude; he’s definitely going to be there for three rounds if I allow him to be.”

Wilcox went on to explain how he plans for an early finish. If his ideal scenario pans out Wilcox will move to 8-3 professionally.
