MMAMadness.com has learned that Anthony Morrison is likely to sign with the WEC. Jan. 10th fight card. Sources close to both Mike Brown and Anthony Morrison have said the bout is being talked about.

Mike Brown plans to return to action as soon as the WEC will let him.

Mike Brown plans to return to action as soon as the WEC will let him.

While Jose Aldo and Urijah Faber are unavailable for a January fight, former champ Mike Brown has been begging the WEC to let him back in before his expected March return.

According to Mike Thomas Brown’s website:

“Brown is anxious to get back inside the cage and wants to fight as soon as January for WEC 46 and is willing to beg for it in the process.”

MMAMADNESS.com has learned that a match up between Anthony Morrison and Brown is in the works for WEC  46.

The WEC has plans to sign “CheeseSteak” Morrison in the near future, though has yet to announce an official signing.

Morrison has beat top WEC prospects, Jeff Lentz and Alvin Robinson, in the past three weeks. With a record of 16-6 professionally Morrison would be a welcomed addition to the already stacked 145 division.

Calls out to Brown and Morrison’s representation have not been returned.

The Jose Aldo/Mike Brown fight happened while I was out of town, so I missed the whole thing.

After watching the fight on line, I was pretty shocked by how dominant Aldo was in the fight. While the stoppage was appropriate as Brown was taking shots and not defending himself, I would have liked to have seen the WEC 145 lb. belt change hands in a more definitive fashion. While I support the referee’s decision to end the bout, Brown jumped up obviously not hurt by the ground and pound assault of Aldo. I felt Brown was beaten, but still feel like he is a fighter that has a lot left to give in the ring, and should be given the chance to contend for the title once he works his way back up.

Not familiar with Anthony Morrison, but it sounds like a great opportunity for Mike Brown to begin re-establishing himself in the WEC featherweight picture, one of my favorite divisions, and I hope we get to see more great action from these diminutive warriors in the new year.
