Mir-Carwin in the works for Interim title at UFC 111
Early this morning Fanhouse’s Mike Chiappetta broke the news that an interim title is in the works for the UFC heavy weight division. The obvious contenders are second and third ranked heavy weights, Shane Carwin and Frank Mir, respectively.
Gabriel Gonzaga off UFC 108 due to Staph Infection
It seems as though the card that has been cursed from the beginning is still showing signs of doom. In the lastest sting of events, Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, Gabriel Gonzaga has contracted a case of staph infection. Several fighters that were supposed to be on this card have had to pull due to injury or illness. Fellow Brazilian, Antonio Nogueira, also pulled out of UFC 108 due to staph infection earlier this month.
The card has been strewn with other changes as well, most notebly Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar dropping from the card due to a mysterious illness that most are still unsure of. As of Friday, November 27, the UFC had yet to announce a replacement for Gonzaga.
Lesnar Fighting a Bacterial Infection
Dana White told Yahoo’s Kevin Iole that UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was fighting a much more serious disease, not on the level of AIDS or cancer. The Associated Press is reporting that Lesnar is in a Bismarck, N.D. hospital fighting a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract.

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will not be able to train in the near future due to being diagnosed with mononucleosis.
