avoid counter programming in Japan, Dream, Sengoku and K-1 have teamed up for a over-the-top end of the year show. The best of each organization’s roster will be competing on the New Year’s Eve event. Most recently, a fight between Melvin Manhoef (23-6-1) and Kazuo Misaki (22-9-2) has been added to the packed card. Manhoef is a fighter who always delivers, 22 of his 23 wins are via (T)KO and have been competing in mixed martial arts for fourteen years.

DREAM and K-1 powerhouse Melvin “No Mercy” Manhoef has signed a multi-year agreement to compete for world championship mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion StrikeForce

World Victory Road, the promoters behind Sengoku, have canceled the planned New Year’s Eve show in Japan. Though the Sengoku event is off, WVR is rumored to be co-promoting with Fighting & Entertainment Group (FEG) as part of their Dynamite!!2009 NYE event. The Sengoku cancelation eliminates two MMA events in Japan on New Year’s Eve, while the co-promotion allows WVR to still make some cash.

DREAM Welterweight Grand Prix Champion Marius “Whitemare” Zaromskis (13-3) of Lithuania has signed a multi-fight agreement with world championship mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion StrikeForce.

Paulo Filho was pulled off of the DREAM 12 card. MMA Weekly is reporting that it was caused by visa issues.

Yoshihiro Akiyama is in Japan promoting the UFC 2009 Undisputed video game, and he also let out his potential next opponent in the process. MMA Junkie reported that Akiyama will face PRIDE FC legend Wanderlei Silva sometime in February.

The Nov. 7 Fedor-Rogers on CBS card is slowly filling out as MMA Junkie is reporting that Gegard Mousasi will take on Sokoujdou. The Web site is also reporting that 145-pound title contenders Erin Toughill and Marloes Coenen will serve as a reserve bout.

DREAM 11 saw the return of Kazushi Sakuraba, a featherweight champion crowned and a highly-anticipated rubber match. Bibiano Fernandes took home the featherweight grand prix title and the featherweight title, and Shinya Aoki finally claimed the lightweight title.
